The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the last and greatest of Allah's messengers. Muslims love him and try to follow his beautiful example. Let us learn some simple, well-known facts about his life.

Why this matters: Learning about the Prophet ﷺ helps us know how Allah wants us to live: with honesty, kindness and good manners. When we love him, we try to copy his good behaviour every day.

Born in Makkah

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born in the city of Makkah, in the land we now call Arabia. Makkah is very special to Muslims because the Ka'bah is there.

Cared for by his family

As a small boy, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did not have his parents with him, so his grandfather cared for him, and later his uncle took over.

Known as al-Amīn

As he grew up, the people of Makkah saw how honest he was and gave him a special nickname: al-Amīn, "the trustworthy one". They trusted him to keep their valuable things safe, because they knew he would never lie or cheat — even before Allah chose him to be a prophet.

Kind to everyone

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was famous for his kindness — gentle with children, kind to animals, and caring towards his neighbours, the poor and anyone in need.

Put these events from the Prophet's ﷺ life in order:

  1. Born in the city of Makkah
  2. Cared for by his grandfather, then his uncle
  3. Known by everyone as al-Amīn, the trustworthy one
  4. Chosen by Allah as a prophet and given the Qur'an

He received the Qur'an

When he became a man, Allah chose him as a prophet and sent him the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam. He taught people to worship Allah alone, to be truthful and kind, and to have the very best manners — teaching that Muslims everywhere still follow today.
