Allah loves us so much that He did not leave us alone. He sent many prophets, one after another, to remind people of the same simple message: worship Allah alone, and be good and kind to others.

Why this matters: The prophets are our best role models. When we learn how they trusted Allah and stayed patient and kind, we learn how to grow into good, gentle people too.

One message, many prophets

Every prophet came with the same heart of the message: to love Allah, be honest, help others, and stay away from wrong. We say (as) after their names to show our love and respect.

Ādam (as) — the very first person

Ādam (as) was the first human being and the first prophet. Allah taught him the names of things and gave him a good, gentle heart. When Ādam (as) made a mistake, he felt sorry and turned back to Allah, who is most forgiving and forgave him. From Ādam (as) we learn to say sorry and to trust Allah's mercy.

Nūḥ (as) — the patient caller

Nūḥ (as) called his people to worship Allah for a very long time. Many did not listen and were unkind to him, yet he never gave up or grew angry. Allah told him to build a great ark, and those who believed were kept safe. From Nūḥ (as) we learn patience — keeping on doing good even when it is hard.

Ibrāhīm (as) — the friend of Allah

Ibrāhīm (as) trusted Allah completely. He looked at the sun, moon and stars and knew that only Allah, who made them all, deserves our worship. He was brave, kind and welcoming to guests. From Ibrāhīm (as) we learn to trust Allah and to be generous.

Put these prophets in the order they lived, earliest first:

  1. Ādam (as), the first man
  2. Nūḥ (as), who built the ark
  3. Ibrāhīm (as), the friend of Allah
Three prophets, one message: love Allah, be patient, be kind. When we trust Allah like they did, our hearts feel calm and strong.
