The third article of faith is belief in the divine Books. Out of His mercy, Allah did not leave people without guidance. He sent revealed Books to His prophets so that people would know how to worship Him and live well. Muslims believe in all of them.
The Books Allah revealed
Allah tells us about several revealed Books:
| Book | Given to |
|---|---|
| The Scrolls (Ṣuḥuf) | Ibrāhīm (as) |
| The Tawrāh | Mūsā (as) |
| The Zabūr | Dāwūd (as) |
| The Injīl | ʿĪsā (as) |
| The Qur'an | Muhammad ﷺ |
One message
All the Books came from Allah and carried the same core message: worship Allah alone and do good. The earlier prophets and their followers were sent true guidance, and we speak of them with respect.
The Qur'an is final
The Qur'an is the last Book, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It confirms the truth in the earlier Books and completes the guidance. Allah has promised to protect it, so it remains exactly as revealed (see Sūrah al-Ḥijr, 15:9).
- It is recited in Arabic, memorised by millions, and unchanged.
- It guides Muslims in belief, worship, and character.
- It confirms and completes the earlier messages.
How we honour the Books
We believe in all the Books Allah sent, we handle the Qur'an with respect, and we follow its guidance. This belief connects us to the whole family of prophets and the one message of Tawḥīd.
Put these divine Books in the order Allah revealed them:
- The Ṣuḥuf (Scrolls) given to Ibrāhīm (as)
- The Tawrāh given to Mūsā (as)
- The Zabūr given to Dāwūd (as)
- The Injīl given to ʿĪsā (as)
- The Qur'an given to Muhammad ﷺ
